Astra, situated above voco Gosford, seeks a Head Chef to own and lead the kitchen in a Japanese-inspired fine-dining setting with sweeping views. You will shape the menu, standards and team culture, driving an exceptional guest experience.

Qualifications

• Experience as Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a fine dining setting.
• Strong capability in Japanese cuisine and technique.
• Proven leadership to build and sustain high-performing teams.
• Trade qualification and food safety certification required.
• Ambition to establish Astra as the Central Coast's must-visit restaurant.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Astra kitchen team through every service, from prep to pass.
• Own and evolve the Japanese-inspired menu, season by season.
• Set the standard for consistency, presentation and quality on every plate.
• Manage food cost, ordering and supplier relationships.
• Train, mentor and build a kitchen team that people want to work in.
• Partner with Astra Venue Manager to bring the Astra vision to life.
• Keep the kitchen safe and compliant — WHS, food safety and HACCP.
