Executive and Ministerial Support Officer

We have an opportunity for an Executive and Ministerial Support Officer to be part of our Office of the Chief Executive within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of the department, supporting executive leadership, contributing to high-profile government priorities, and building valuable relationships across government and industry.

How You'll Make a Difference
  • Provide high-level confidential administrative and project support services to the Office of the Chief Executive, supporting executive leadership and contributing to key organisational outcomes.
  • Become an essential and highly professional point of contact, building connections across the department and acting as an important interface between senior leaders, ministerial offices, government agencies and industry stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and deliver high-quality briefings, reports and other strategic and operational documents, helping leaders make informed and timely decisions.
  • Work collaboratively with Executive, Senior Management and staff within all divisions of the Department to progress priorities, manage commitments and deliver outcomes.
  • Exercise sound judgement by triaging urgent and important actions, resolving competing priorities and ensuring critical matters are progressed efficiently.
  • Support projects, events and ministerial processes through research, analysis and stakeholder engagement that contributes to the success of the Office of the Chief Executive.
About You
  • Experience providing confidential, secretarial, administrative and clerical service to Executive Management, or supporting senior leaders in a similarly complex environment.
  • Proven ability to prioritise, manage multiple tasks and resolve conflicting demands while delivering high-quality outcomes and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to maintain effective working relationships across government, industry and executive stakeholders.
  • Experience preparing correspondence, reports, briefings and advice, with the ability to gather information, undertake analysis and present clear recommendations.
  • A proactive approach, with the ability to anticipate problems and take decisive action, work independently and contribute positively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Sound judgement and professionalism, including the ability to exercise tact and discretion and confidently manage sensitive matters with integrity and confidentiality.

Special Conditions

Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.

12-month opportunity available.

Full-time, 37.5 hours per week.

Requirements
  • Possession of a current driver's licence and willingness to drive.
  • Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel may be required.
  • Australian residency or current works permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).
  • You acknowledge your work, health and safety obligations and our expectations when applying for a role.
  • The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies.
