Job summary

Joe Wagner Group in Queensland is seeking a reliable Excavator Operator to join our civil construction team. You will operate excavators across roadworks, drainage and rail/renewable projects, delivering across sites with a strong safety focus.

You will perform pre-start checks, report maintenance needs and work closely with supervisors and ground crew to keep machinery and worksites safe, efficient and tidy.

Qualifications

• Current Excavator competency/ticket (RII) required.
• Civil construction experience in roads, drainage, rail preferred.
• Construction White Card holder required.
• Strong safety awareness and ability to follow site procedures.
• Reliable, punctual and team-oriented.
• Additional tickets (e.g. Roller, Loader, HR Licence) viewed favorably.
• Experience using Topcon or GPS machine control preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators safely and efficiently across projects.
• Carry out trenching, detailed excavation, final trim and bulk earthworks.
• Conduct daily pre-start checks and report maintenance needs.
• Work with supervisors, ground crew and other operators.
• Ensure compliance with site safety, environmental and quality requirements.
• Assist with other plant operation tasks as required.
• Maintain care of plant, equipment and a tidy worksite.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering civil construction and infrastructure projects by operating a variety of excavator machinery across roadworks, earthworks, drainage, and rail/renewable sites.
