Job summary

Beneath Driver Lane in Melbourne's CBD seeks a senior Functions and Marketing Lead to own the full events cycle, from inquiry to post-event follow-up, and to drive revenue across private and corporate bookings. You will sit on the leadership team with the Venue Manager, guiding operational decisions and keeping the venue running to standard.

You will plan the marketing calendar, manage social media and campaigns with an agency, grow the Basement Barrel Society and maintain brand partnerships

Qualifications

• 5+ years in hospitality, with at least 2 in functions/events or venue management.
• Track record of selling and delivering private and corporate events, ideally with revenue targets.
• Hands-on venue experience: run a floor, read a roster, manage labour and COGS.
• Confident, commercial communication with clients, brands and suppliers.
• Strong organisation across many moving parts: run sheets, deadlines and budgets.
• Comfort with social media and working alongside a marketing agency.
• Current RSA and the ability to work nights and weekends around the events calendar.

Responsibilities

• Own the full functions cycle: enquiry, proposal, contract, deposit, run sheet, delivery and post-event follow-up.
• Respond to every enquiry quickly and convert it, using the functions pack, tailored packages and minimum-spend structures.
• Proactively sell into corporate, agency and private markets.
• Build run sheets and brief the bar, kitchen and floor teams so every event is staffed and costed correctly.
• Host key events on the night and be the client's single point of contact.
• Track pipeline, conversion and function revenue, and report on them weekly.
• Plan and run the venue's marketing calendar: launches, tastings, seasonal menus and in-venue programming.
• Manage social media and paid campaigns with the agency, holding them to clear results.
• Grow the Basement Barrel Society through member events, retention and new sign-ups.
• Maintain relationships with spirits brands and distributors, including activation funding and co-branded events.

Beneath Driver Lane is a whisky and cocktail bar tucked below the Melbourne CBD, known for its spirits collection, its members' Basement Barrel Society and a calendar of brand-led events. This is primarily a functions and marketing role. You'll sell and deliver private and large-group bookings, run the marketing calendar and grow brand partnerships.
