The Salvation Army Youth Services in Shepparton, VIC, seeks an After-Hours Youth Support Worker for a permanent part-time role of 27.5 hours per week on-site. Reporting to the Client Services Coordinator, you will provide a safe, supportive presence during after-hours, fostering independence and resilience in young people.

Ideal candidates hold a Diploma in Community Services or related field, have experience in youth homelessness or similar settings, and demonstrate trauma-informed practice.

Qualifikationen

• Diploma qualification in Community Services, Youth Work, Social Services or related field.
• Experience in community services, youth services, homelessness or residential care.
• Understanding of trauma-informed practice and PIE environments.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to stay calm, professional and solution-focused in challenging situations.
• Current Victorian WWCC.
• Current Victorian Driver's Licence.

Aufgaben

• Create a safe, supportive and inclusive environment for young people in crisis accommodation.
• Build positive relationships based on respect, trust and professional boundaries.
• Help residents develop independent living skills (cooking, hygiene, budgeting, shared spaces).
• Assist residents to engage with education, employment, housing, health and community services.
• Work within the Journey to Independence Model and trauma-informed practice frameworks.
• Identify risks, respond to incidents and contribute to a safe service environment.
• Participate in handovers and collaborate with the support team.
• Provide outreach support to young people accessing the service.
