Job summary

Janus Electric is seeking an EV Commissioning Engineer for its Central Coast facility to commission, test, and validate swappable batteries, charge stations and electric vehicles. You will flash controllers, update configurations, and support automation of the commissioning process.

The role requires a degree in engineering or related field and 3+ years in commissioning or testing complex control systems. Strong communication, organisation, and CAN bus experience are essential.

Responsibilities

• Commission, test, and validate swappable batteries, charge stations, and electric vehicles; flash controllers with the latest software and update configurations.
• Run checks and support automation of the commissioning process.
• Prepare quality check processes for build and commissioning using JIRA; develop commissioning procedures and troubleshooting docs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues by analyzing problems, identify solutions, and guide clients; act as first contact for production engineering support.
• Maintain the production engineering ticket system.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality Assurance, and Developers to resolve customer issues and provide product training.
• Provide aftersales technical support to dealers and customers; investigate field failures and warranty claims via root cause analysis.
• Document findings and recommend corrective actions; report trends to Head of Engineering.

Janus Electric is revolutionising heavy transport by converting diesel trucks to electric and building a national swappable battery network. We are scaling fast and need a skilled, detail-oriented EV Commissioning Engineer to help bring our next generation of zero-emission trucks to life at our Central Coast facility.

We are seeking for an EV Commissioning Engineer who will play a critical role ensuring batteries, charge stationsand vehicles are built and tested to Janus quality requirements before releaseto customers, and providing ongoing aftersales technical support oncevehicles are in service. The role is central to product reliability, keepingcustomers on the move with minimal downtime — both at commissioning andthroughout the product's life in the field.

What You Will Do:

• Commission, test, and validate Janus swappable batteries, charge stations, and electric vehicles, flashing controllers with the latest software and updating configuration and calibration to suit customer requirements.
• Run through checks and support automation of the commissioning process wherever possible.
• Prepare quality check processes for build and commissioning using JIRA, and develop and document commissioning procedures and troubleshooting processes to create a benchmark for production.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues by analysing problems, identifying solutions, and guiding clients through the necessary steps, acting as first point of contact for production engineering support.
• Implement and maintain the production engineering ticket system.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams — including Production, Quality Assurance, and Developers — to promptly resolve customer issues, and provide product training and guidance to production technicians.
• Provide aftersales technical support to dealers and customers, investigating field failures, warranty claims, and recurring issues through root cause analysis.
• Work with the Dealer Engagement and Development Manager and dealer network to resolve complex or escalated aftersales issues, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
• Track aftersales issue trends and report recurring or emerging problems to the Head of Engineering.

What You Bring:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information technology, or a similar field
• 3+ years' experience in commissioning or testing fixed plant or vehicle control systems.
• Technical understanding of complex hardware and software systems, or a demonstrated ability to quickly learn complex systems.
• Experience with dynamic control systems, electronics, and CAN bus troubleshooting.
• Strong issue resolution tracking, process improvement, and technical management skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to plan and make decisions under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Desirable: CAN bus, PLC, vehicle controller, and diagnostic experience; project management experience; experience using JIRA or similar ticketing/quality systems; and experience conducting root-cause or failure investigations, including warranty claim analysis
