Job summary

PTG Commercial Glazing is seeking an experienced estimator to join our Gold Coast team. You’ll guide projects from tender through to award and coordinate across Queensland and New South Wales, building strong client relationships and collaborating with builders, shopfitters and suppliers.

You’ll review drawings, prepare accurate estimates and take-offs for glass and aluminium, obtain supplier pricing and help manage procurement through to installation.

Qualifications

• Ideally, you will have estimating experience within commercial glazing, aluminium windows and doors, shopfitting, construction or a similar industry.
• You should understand commercial glazing and aluminium systems and be proficient in quantity take-offs, estimating, quotes and tender prep.
• You must be able to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications and technical documents.
• You will maintain strong attention to detail and build relationships with builders, project managers, suppliers and clients.

• Prepare estimates, quantity take-offs, quotations and tenders for commercial glazing projects.
• Complete material and labour take-offs for glass, aluminium, hardware and associated components.

This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys the commercial side of construction, building strong client relationships and being involved in projects beyond simply preparing a quote.

You’ll be involved from the initial tender stage through to project award and coordination, working across a range of projects throughout Queensland and New South Wales.

Work closely with builders, shopfitters, suppliers and our internal team to identify opportunities, secure new work and help ensure a smooth transition from estimating through to procurement, fabrication and installation.

About the Role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing architectural drawings, specifications and tender documentation

• Preparing accurate estimates, quantity take-offs, quotations and tenders for commercial glazing projects

• Completing material and labour take-offs for glass, aluminium, hardware and associated components

• Obtaining and assessing supplier and subcontractor pricing

• Reviewing project scope, inclusions, exclusions and potential commercial risks

• Preparing and submitting tenders within required deadlines

• Following up quotations and tenders with existing and prospective clients

• Building and maintaining strong relationships with builders, shopfitters, fitout companies and industry partners

• Identifying new project and sales opportunities

• Working with clients to identify suitable products, systems and solutions where required

• Assisting with project budgets, variations and cost tracking

• Coordinating awarded projects and assisting with procurement, lead times and key project milestones

• Liaising with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, site teams and internal staff throughout the project

• Maintaining accurate estimating, project and client records

About You

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous estimating experience within commercial glazing, aluminium windows and doors, shopfitting, construction or a similar industry

• A strong understanding of commercial glazing and aluminium systems

• Experience with quantity take-offs, estimating, quoting and tender preparation

• The ability to confidently read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications and technical documentation

• Strong commercial awareness with excellent attention to detail

• Confidence building relationships and communicating with builders, project managers, suppliers and clients

• A proactive approach to following up opportunities and securing work

• Strong organisation and time‑management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities

• A practical, solutions‑focused approach to problem solving

• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Office

• V6 experience highly regarded

• Experience across estimating, sales, business development or project coordination will be highly regarded
