Job summary

Orange Precision Metalcraft is seeking an Estimator to join our Orange, NSW team. You will prepare competitive quotations for metal fabrication and engineering projects, reading drawings and evaluating material, labour and subcontractor costs to ensure margins and manufacturability.

You will work closely with management, engineering and workshop teams to deliver accurate estimates and tender submissions, while maintaining records for smooth project handover.

Qualifications

• Experience in metal fabrication or engineering estimation.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Strong numerical and analytical problem-solving abilities.
• Attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Customer-focused with good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret drawings, plans and technical specs.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates and quotations for fabrication and engineering projects.
• Calculate material quantities, labour hours, subcontractor costs and other project expenses.
• Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor pricing.
• Liaise with customers to clarify project requirements and scope.
• Identify risks, cost variations and margin improvement opportunities.
• Prepare tender submissions and follow up quotations.
• Collaborate with management and workshop to reflect manufacturing realities in estimates.
• Maintain estimating records and support project handover to production.
