Job summary

Recruitaustralia is seeking an experienced Estimator for CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication and metal stamping based in Melbourne's eastern suburbs. The role focuses on preparing accurate quotations and manufacturing cost estimates from customer RFQs and engineering drawings.

The successful candidate will review processes, calculate labour and material costs, and collaborate with Sales, Engineering and Production teams to deliver cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience in engineering, manufacturing, estimating or technical quotations.
• Good understanding of CNC machining, fabrication or sheet metal manufacturing.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, materials and production methods.
• Ability to calculate or learn machining times, labour and material costs.
• Good computer skills, including Excel and ideally ERP software.
• Strong attention to detail and numerical ability.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• A practical, hands on understanding of manufacturing would be an advantage.
• Willingness to learn new manufacturing processes.
• A positive attitude and ability to work well within a team.

Responsibilities

• Review customer enquiries, RFQs and engineering drawings.
• Prepare manufacturing quotations and cost estimates.
• Estimate CNC machining setup and cycle times.
• Calculate labour, material and production costs.
• Quote sheet metal cutting, bending, stamping and fabrication.
• Estimate welding, powder coating and assembly operations.
• Obtain supplier and subcontractor pricing.
• Liaise with Sales, Engineering and Production teams.
• Review manufacturing methods and identify cost-effective solutions.
• Prepare quotations, proposals and supporting documentation.
• Maintain costing information and use ERP systems.
• Assist with handover of successful quotations to Production.

An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Estimator or technically minded manufacturing professional to join a well-established Australian engineering and manufacturing company located in Melbourne's eastern suburbs.

Our client provides a range of precision manufacturing services, including CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, metal stamping, welding and powder coating, servicing customers across various industries.

Due to an upcoming vacancy, they are seeking a capable and motivated person to join their team and assist the Sales Department with preparing accurate quotations and manufacturing cost estimates.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in engineering, CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, toolmaking, production engineering or manufacturing estimating who enjoys working with technical drawings and understanding how components are manufactured.

THE ROLE WILL INCLUDE:

TO APPLY YOU SHOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS:
