Job summary

Orange Precision Metalcraft is seeking an Estimator to join our Orange, NSW team. You will prepare competitive quotations for metal fabrication and engineering projects, reading drawings and evaluating material, labour and subcontractor costs to ensure margins and manufacturability.

You will work closely with management, engineering and workshop teams to deliver accurate estimates and tender submissions, while maintaining records for smooth project handover.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Estimator to join our metal fabrication and engineering business in Orange, NSW.

Working closely with management, engineering and workshop personnel, you will prepare accurate and competitive quotations for a diverse range of fabrication and engineering projects. Your practical understanding of workshop operations, materials and labour requirements will be essential in ensuring our estimates are commercially competitive and achievable.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical knowledge, problem-solving and commercial thinking in a hands-on engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and interpret engineering drawings, plans and technical specifications.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates and quotations for metal fabrication and engineering projects.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• Previous estimating experience in metal fabrication, engineering, manufacturing or a related industry.
• The ability to read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.
• A sound understanding of fabrication processes, materials, welding and workshop operations.
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and time management.
• The ability to manage multiple quotations and competing deadlines.
• Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
• Competent computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and relevant estimating software.
• A background in fabrication, fitting and machining, mechanical engineering or a related trade will be highly regarded.
