Job description

Estimator & Customer Relationship Coordinator

Join one of Australia's leading sustainable de-fit and recycling contractors.

ALD Group is one of Australia's fastest-growing commercial de-fit, demolition, recycling and circular economy businesses, working with many of Australia's leading head contractors, project managers and asset owners.

This is a unique opportunity to join ALD during an exciting stage of our journey. As one of our first key commercial team members in NSW, you will play a pivotal role in helping establish our local presence, build strong client relationships and support the growth of our business across the state, while being backed by the experience, systems and resources of our national team.

We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys the art of estimating while also building long-term relationships with clients. You'll thrive in a fast-paced environment, have exceptional attention to detail, enjoy solving problems and take pride in delivering outstanding customer service. You'll be proactive, commercially minded, able to work autonomously and equally comfortable collaborating with a high-performing national team.

About the Role

Working closely with our national estimating, operations and leadership teams, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders while managing client relationships throughout the entire tender process.

You'll become a trusted point of contact for our NSW clients, actively following opportunities from tender RFQ through to award, while also supporting our operations team with pricing variations and commercial outcomes throughout project delivery and future projects.

This is a diverse role where no two days are the same and provides an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, responsibility and building long-term client relationships whilst seeking career growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare accurate and competitive estimates and tenders for commercial de-fit, demolition, strip-out, structural demolition and associated works.
  • Review drawings, specifications and project documentation to develop detailed pricing submissions.
  • Attend site inspections throughout Perth, regional Western Australia and interstate when required to accurately assess project requirements and risks.
  • Measure quantities, identify project risks and prepare or review detailed scopes of work.
  • Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers (when required) to obtain competitive quotations and ensure pricing accuracy.
  • Prepare quotations, pricing schedules and supporting documentation within required timeframes.
  • Proactively follow up submitted tenders throughout the tender and post-tender period to maximise opportunities, improve conversion and maintain strong client engagement.
  • Undertake strategic planning by monitoring tender pipelines, market activity and forecast opportunities.
  • Obtain pricing and quotation feedback from clients, negotiate commercial outcomes and identify opportunities to improve future quotations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with head contractors, project managers, consultants and asset owners through regular communication and exceptional customer service.
  • Work closely with the Operations team to ensure a seamless handover of successful projects.
  • Support the Operations team by preparing and pricing project variations throughout project delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records within the CRM and estimating systems, ensuring tender pipelines and client communications are up to date.
  • Identify opportunities to grow existing client relationships, secure repeat business and generate new opportunities for ALD Group, including attending client meetings, networking functions and industry events.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of estimating processes, pricing strategies and customer relationship initiatives.
  • Regional and interstate travel will be required from time to time.
About You
  • A minimum of three years' experience within the commercial construction industry, ideally with a head contractor or subcontractor.
  • Experience in an estimating role, coupled with a passion for sales, networking and developing client relationships, and the ambition to step into a leadership position.
  • Proven estimating experience across commercial construction, demolition, de-fit, fit-out or related subcontractor trades (industry training will be provided where required).
  • Strong commercial acumen and an excellent understanding of construction methodology and project delivery.
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation and customer relationship management skills.
  • A genuine passion for building long-term client relationships and delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Excellent organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage multiple tenders and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively within a collaborative national team.
  • Experience using estimating software such as EstimateOne and Procure is highly regarded, although full training will be provided.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel and electronic plan measuring software.
  • A current driver's licence and willingness to travel when required.
What We Offer
  • The opportunity to become a foundation member of ALD's NSW team.
  • Work on exciting commercial projects with leading head contractors, project managers and asset owners.
  • The backing, systems and support of a well-established national business.
  • Exposure to some of Australia's most recognised commercial construction and fit-out projects.
  • Competitive salary package based on experience.
  • Ongoing professional development, mentoring and national training opportunities.
  • A supportive, collaborative and high-performing team culture.
