Job summary

Alder Group on the Gold Coast is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our established Commercial Estimating team at our Helensvale Head Office. You will manage tender pricing for projects up to $50M+, develop strategies, and provide cost planning throughout the tender process.

We value strong commercial acumen, Buildsoft Cubit proficiency, and the ability to mentor others while collaborating with clients and supply chain partners to win opportunities and improve profitability.

Qualifications

• 10+ years' estimating experience within the commercial construction industry.
• Proven track record pricing and securing projects valued up to $50M+.
• Experience preparing Design & Construct tenders, ECI submissions and cost plans.
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, buildability and value engineering principles.
• Advanced skills in Buildsoft Cubit, Cubit Select, EstimateOne and Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Managing the pricing and preparation of tender submissions for commercial projects up to $50M+.
• Developing competitive and commercially sound tender strategies.
• Preparing first-principles estimates, cost plans and Design & Construct submissions.
• Reviewing and critically assessing subcontractor pricing, supplier quotations and QS estimates.
• Identifying risks, opportunities and alternative construction methodologies to maximise project outcomes and profitability.
• Providing cost planning, benchmarking and comparative cost advice throughout the tender process.
• Maintaining Alder's competitive edge through innovation, value engineering and cost optimisation.
• Collaborating with clients, consultants, subcontractors and supply chain partners to build relationships.
• Mentoring junior estimators and cadets.
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across estimating and pre-construction functions.

Due to continued growth and an exciting pipeline of opportunities, we are seeking an accomplished Senior Estimator to join our established Commercial Estimating team based at our Head Office in Helensvale on the Gold Coast. The successful candidate will have strong commercial acumen, and a deep understanding of the South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales construction markets.

About The Role

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Managing the pricing and preparation of tender submissions for commercial projects up to $50M+
• Developing competitive and commercially sound tender strategies
• Preparing first-principles estimates, cost plans and Design & Construct submissions
• Reviewing and critically assessing subcontractor pricing, supplier quotations and Quantity Surveyor estimates
• Identifying risks, opportunities and alternative construction methodologies to maximise project outcomes and profitability
• Providing cost planning, benchmarking and comparative cost advice throughout the tender process
• Maintaining Alder's competitive edge through innovation, value engineering and cost optimisation
• Collaborating with clients, consultants, subcontractors and supply chain partners to build and maintain strong relationships
• Supporting the procurement of future work opportunities alongside senior leaders across the business
• Managing and enhancing benchmarking databases, supplier cost databases and market intelligence
• Mentoring and developing junior estimators and cadets
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across estimating and pre-construction functions

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• 10+ years' estimating experience within the commercial construction industry
• A proven track record pricing and securing projects valued up to $50M+
• Experience preparing Design & Construct tenders, ECI submissions and cost plans
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, buildability and value engineering principles
• Advanced skills in Buildsoft Cubit, Cubit Select, EstimateOne and Microsoft Excel
• Thorough understanding of Australian Standards and NCC requirements
• Established relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and key industry stakeholders
• Excellent commercial acumen, analytical skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships and influence outcomes
• The ability to mentor junior team members and contribute positively to a high-performing team culture
