Job summary

Brunel in Queensland is seeking a skilled Estimator to price commercial builds, refurbishments and maintenance projects up to 20M, joining two junior estimators and reporting to the General Manager. You will prepare estimates, take-offs, source subcontractor pricing and work closely with Project Managers to ensure smooth project handovers.

Strong attention to detail and Cubit software experience are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• 2+ years estimating or quantity surveying experience in Australian construction.
• Tendering experience for commercial projects up to $10M.
• Proficient with Cubit estimating software.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, costs and subcontractor pricing.

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates and tender submissions.
• Take-offs from plans and specifications.
• Source and negotiate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• Build and maintain subcontractor relationships.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and Contract Administrators on handovers.
• Identify cost risks and value-engineering opportunities.
• Site visits as required by project location.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates and tender submissions.
• Complete quantity take-offs from plans and specifications.
• Source and negotiate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• Build and maintain subcontractor relationships.
• Work with Project Managers and Contract Administrators on project handovers.
• Identify cost risks and value-engineering opportunities.
• Site visits depending on project location, whether local or regional.

Requirements

• At least 2 years' estimating or quantity surveying experience within the Australian construction industry.
• Experience tendering commercial construction projects valued up to $10M
• Hands-on experience with Cubit estimating software (essential).
• Relevant construction qualification, trade background or equivalent industry experience.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, costs and subcontractor pricing.
• Excellent attention to detail, numerical skills and negotiation ability.
