Job summary

SJD Homes in Melbourne is seeking an experienced Estimator to accurately cost residential projects, focusing on production estimating and supporting sales estimates when needed.

You will read plans and specs, perform material and labour take-offs, create purchase orders, and collaborate with the Sales Consultant, engineers and suppliers to refine estimates and monitor budgets.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret construction documents, including plans, specifications and engineering drawings.
• Prepare accurate production estimates from signed plans, specifications and colour selections using Databuild and Bluebeam.
• Conduct thorough material and labour take-offs.
• Create and review purchase orders, including supporting documentation.
• Collaborate with Sales Consultant along with external engineers and suppliers to gather accurate information and refine estimates.
• Monitor project budgets and provide updates on cost variances.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation for all estimates and related communications.
• General estimating and admin duties including updating catalogues and pricing, supporting the Variations Team with pricing and queries and contributing to process improvements in estimating systems and workflows.

About the Role

As an Estimator, your focus will primarily be on production estimating with the opportunity to support sales estimating when needed. You'll play a key role in ensuring our projects are accurately costed and ready for construction, working closely with internal teams and external trades and suppliers.

What You'll Be Doing

Reading and interpreting construction documents, including plans, specifications and engineering drawings.

Preparing accurate production estimates from signed plans, specifications and colour selections using Databuild and Bluebeam.

Creating and reviewing purchase orders, including supporting documentation.

What You'll Need

Demonstrated experience in residential construction.

Certificate IV in Building and Construction (advantageous but not required).

Prior experience in production estimating within the residential construction industry (advantageous but not required).

Solid experience in a role with a strong focus on accuracy, figures and detail.

Excellent attention to detail with the ability to deliver high-quality work within deadlines.

Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a team environment.

Highly organized, proactive and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
