Job summary

Fleetwood Australia is seeking an Estimator to join the Queensland Design & Estimating team, supporting a growing pipeline of modular construction projects across education, social housing, health, government and defence sectors. You will prepare accurate, commercially sound estimates and help shape pricing strategies to win work.

Working with Design, Manufacturing, Project Delivery and Sales, you will undertake quantity take-offs, source subcontractor pricing and contribute to pre-contract

Qualifications

  • Experience in estimating or related construction role.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specs and tender documentation.
  • Strong commercial acumen and numerical skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel capability.
  • Excellent communication skills with subcontractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Review tender documentation, plans and specifications to prepare accurate cost estimates and pricing submissions.
  • Undertake quantity take-offs, bills of quantities and first-principles estimating activities.
  • Source and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing for competitive submissions.
  • Collaborate with Design, Manufacturing, Project Delivery and Sales teams through the estimating process.
  • Prepare RFQs, scopes of work and pricing documents for subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Analyze project risks, opportunities and cost drivers to support decision making.
  • Liaise with architects, engineers, project managers, suppliers and clients to clarify requirements.
  • Provide pre-contract estimating support and contribute to successful tender submissions.
  • Maintain estimating databases, cost benchmarks and market pricing information.
  • Participate in estimate reviews and contribute to continuous improvement in estimating.

Job description

We're looking for an Estimator to join Fleetwood's Queensland Design & Estimating team and play a critical role in supporting our growing pipeline of modular construction projects.

This role is responsible for preparing accurate and commercially sound estimates for projects across education, social housing, health, government, defence and accommodation sectors. Working closely with Design, Manufacturing, Project Delivery and Sales teams, you'll help assess opportunities, develop pricing strategies and ensure Fleetwood is positioned to win and deliver successful projects.

As Fleetwood continues to grow in Queensland, this role has become increasingly important. You'll be joining a collaborative team during an exciting period of expansion, helping increase estimating capacity and supporting the pursuit of significant project opportunities across the state.

While we welcome applications from experienced Estimators, we're also open to candidates from related construction disciplines who are looking to build a long-term career in estimating. You'll be supported by an experienced team and given the opportunity to develop your technical estimating capability while contributing to real projects from day one.

About You
Essential
  • Experience in estimating or a related construction role such as Contract Administration, Project Engineering, Quantity Surveying or Project Coordination.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
  • Strong commercial acumen and numerical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel capability.
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to engage with subcontractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines.
Highly Regarded
  • Previous estimating experience within construction, manufacturing or modular construction.
  • Experience using CostX or similar estimating software.
  • Knowledge of Australian construction methods and building codes.
  • Relevant trade, tertiary or industry qualifications.
