Job summary

Design & Build Recruitment is sourcing experienced Senior Estimators and Estimating Managers for a family-run residential homebuilder in NSW. The role involves leading the estimating process across diverse projects, collaborating with Operations, Sales and Construction to ensure accurate costing and robust pricing strategies.

You will mentor team members, refine estimating processes and contribute to strategic input into the estimating function and wider business growth.

Qualifications

• Experience in residential estimating for custom or project homebuilder.
• Ability to read and interpret residential drawings and documentation.
• Strong take-offs, estimating and pricing experience.
• Attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Commercial awareness and problem-solving ability.
• Experience mentoring estimators is advantageous.
• Experience with estimating or construction management software.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review detailed residential estimates and quotations.
• Review plans, specifications and project documentation.
• Complete and review quantity take-offs and scope requirements.
• Interpret soil reports, site contours, bushfire assessments, structural drawings and other relevant documentation.
• Review subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• Prepare and review variations.
• Maintain accurate pricing, product data and estimating information.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies through analysis and problem-solving.
• Work closely with Operations, Sales and Construction to ensure projects are accurately costed.
• Support and mentor other members of the estimating team.
• Reviewing and improving estimating processes and systems.
• Producing reports and maintaining accurate project and pricing data.

Our client is a family run custom homebuilder with an established reputation for delivering quality residential homes across the South Coast.

An opportunity has become available within the estimating team, and they are looking to speak with experienced Senior Estimators and Estimating Managers who are interested in joining the business.

For a Senior Estimator, there is the opportunity to step into a leadership role, while experienced Estimating Managers can step straight into the position and take ownership of the estimating function.

About The Role

Working closely with the Operations, Sales and Construction teams, you will play an important role in managing the estimating process across a range of residential projects.

Key responsibilities will include

• Preparing and reviewing detailed residential estimates and quotations
• Reviewing plans, specifications and project documentation
• Completing and reviewing quantity take-offs and scope requirements
• Interpreting soil reports, site contours, bushfire assessments, structural drawings and other relevant documentation
• Reviewing subcontractor and supplier pricing

About You

We’re looking for someone with:

• Previous experience in residential estimating, ideally within a custom or project homebuilder
• Strong understanding of residential construction, pricing and building processes
• Ability to read and interpret residential construction drawings and documentation
• Strong experience with quantity take-offs, estimating and pricing
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Good commercial awareness and problem-solving ability
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work across multiple teams
• Experience managing or mentoring estimators would be advantageous
• A proactive, reliable and self-motivated approach
• Experience with estimating or construction management software
