Job summary

Gallery Homes in Queensland is seeking an experienced Estimating Manager to lead our estimating department for residential construction projects. You will oversee cost estimates, pricing strategy, and margin management to ensure profitability and competitive bids.

Reporting to senior leaders, you will shape processes, manage databases and master BOQs, mentor the team, and drive continuous improvement in systems and reporting to support project wins and business growth.

Are you an experienced Estimating Leader looking to take ownership of a high-performing estimating department? We are seeking an Estimating Manager to lead our estimating team and drive the delivery of accurate, profitable, and efficient cost estimates across our residential construction projects.

About the Role

Reporting to senior leaders, the Estimating Manager is accountable for the performance of the Estimating team, including team leadership, pricing strategy, Estimating systems, cost planning and margin management. You will play a key role in ensuring estimates are accurate, competitive, and aligned with company profitability targets while continuously improving processes and systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Mentor and Develop a high-performing Estimating team.
• Drive the continuous improvement of Sales and Production Estimating to deliver accurate pricing, operational efficiency and strong commercial outcomes
• Own cost planning and margin management to ensure ongoing profitability and competitiveness.
• Establish and maintain best practise Estimating standards to ensure project documentation and specifications are consistently interpreted.
• Ensure Master BOQs, Estimating databases and pricing structures remain accurate and current.
• Own and continuously improved estimating systems, databases and reporting tools to identify trends and opportunities to enhance Estimating outcomes.
• Work collaboratively with the Procurement Manager to support supplier pricing, cost planning and best commercial outcomes.
• Drive continuous improvement across estimating systems and processes.
• Provide expert advice and support to internal stakeholders.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Previous leadership experience within an estimating or construction environment.
• Strong knowledge of Databuild, Onsite Companion, and Client Manager.
• Experience working with a high-volume residential builder.
• Exceptional commercial acumen and cost management skills.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach with exceptional attention to detail.
