Job summary

Samsung C&T Corporation Australia seeks an Estimating Lead to drive end-to-end estimation for large-scale Renewable Energy projects in WA. You will mentor electrical, civil and mechanical estimators, price risks in logistics and long-lead equipment, and collaborate with global OEMs for procurement.

The role requires 15+ years of bid/tender experience in an EPC environment, with strong communication and problem-solving skills to present to executives and clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering.
• 15+ years of bid/tender experience.
• Experience with EPC/ECI frameworks and managing contractor models.
• Proficiency in first-principles estimating software (Candy, Expert Estimation or Benchmark).
• Experience in Renewable Energy, Gas, BESS projects.
• Experience in EPC environment managing design scope, schedule and budget.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end estimation for large-scale BESS and Gas projects.
• Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of estimators.
• Identify and price risks related to WA logistics, FIFO labor and long-lead equipment.
• Collaborate with global OEMs for major equipment procurement.

We are seeking an Estimating Lead to support Renewable Energy Projects.

About the Role

We welcome leaders from Electrical, Civil, or MEP backgrounds. What matters most is your ability to manage complex, multi-million-dollar bids and navigate the unique challenges of the WA energy market.

• Own the end-to-end estimation process for large-scale BESS and Gas projects.
• Guide and mentor a multidisciplinary team of Electrical, Civil, and Mechanical estimators.
• Identify and price risks regarding WA logistics, FIFO labor, and long-lead equipment.
• Collaborate with global OEMs for major equipment procurement (batteries, inverters, turbines).
• Present tier-1 commercial proposals to executive leadership and client bodies.
• Coordinate effectively with project managers, cost controllers, planners, and engineers to review and finalise estimates
• Continuously monitor project expenditures and update estimates as necessary throughout the project lifecycle
• Prepare and deliver estimates to clients, effectively addressing any queries or concerns they may have Relevant Technical Knowledge relating to Product Specifications
• Maintain and manage comprehensive documentation and records of estimates, ensuring their accuracy and completeness
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills to evaluate and analyse data, trends, and variables influencing project costs
• Proficiency in tracking actual project costs against estimates and identifying discrepancies to make necessary adjustments
• Meticulous attention to detail to ensure that all project cost components are accurately accounted for in estimates

About You

• Tertiary qualification in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Civil Engineering or similar
• Experience 15+ years to support bid/tender phase
• Deep familiarity with complex contract structures (EPC, ECI, and Managing Contractor frameworks).
• Proficiency in first-principles estimating software (e.g., Candy, Expert Estimation, or Benchmark.).
• Experience in Renewable Energy, Gas, BESS projects
• Experience in an EPC environment managing project design scope, schedule, and budget
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Work well under pressure
• Collaboration skill in multi-disciplinary organisation
