Randstad is seeking a dependable Yard Hand / Trades Assistant in Muswellbrook, NSW for immediate start with a clear pathway to permanent full-time for the right candidate. The role focuses on keeping the yard running smoothly and safely while supporting the workshop team.

You will operate forklifts, assist with yard coordination and depot tasks, and maintain safety standards. Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM with flexibility available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Forklift Licence (LF) current and valid.
• Transport & load restraint knowledge and experience preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude with exposure to heavy machinery/mining equipment.
• Reliable, punctual, safety-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate forklifts to load, unload, and stage mining machinery and components.
• Assist with yard coordination, dispatch, and receiving of hire fleet assets.
• Provide hands-on assistance to workshop mechanics and technicians.
• Conduct basic washdowns, checks, and general yard maintenance.
• Uphold depot safety standards and company procedures.

About the Role

We are a leading heavy equipment lease and hire provider servicing the Upper Hunter mining sector.

Due to steady operational demand, we are looking for a reliable, hard-working Yard Hand / Trades Assistant to join our Muswellbrook depot team. This role offers an immediate start with steady weekday hours and strong potential to transition into a permanent full-time position for the right candidate. You will play a key part in day-to-day operations—keeping our yard running smoothly, handling heavy equipment safely, and supporting our workshop team.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate forklifts to load, unload, and stage mining machinery and components.
• Assist with yard coordination, dispatch, and receiving of hire fleet assets.
• Provide hands-on assistance to workshop mechanics and technicians.
• Conduct basic washdowns, checks, and general yard maintenance.
• Uphold strict depot safety standards, load restraint guidelines, and company procedures.

What We Are Looking For

• Forklift Licence (LF): Current and valid ticket is essential.
• Transport & Load Restraint Knowledge: Prior experience with transport loading, unloading, and staging is strongly preferred (company-specific rules, regs, and processes will be fully trained).
• Mechanical Aptitude: Basic mechanical knowledge or prior exposure to heavy machinery/mining equipment is a major plus.
• Reliability: Strong work ethic, punctuality, and a proactive, safety-first mindset.
• Long-Term Mindset: Keen to prove yourself and secure long-term full-time employment.
