Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist qualified tradespeople with maintenance, repair and rebuild of Caterpillar and other heavy equipment.
• Prepare tools, equipment and work areas for maintenance activities.
• Move parts, components and machinery using forklift and other handling equipment.
• Operate forklifts safely according to site procedures.
• Assist with equipment inspections and servicing tasks.
• Keep workshop tidy and safe, maintaining a clean work environment.
• Follow Workplace Health & Safety policies and report hazards.
• Perform manual handling tasks and use workshop tools safely.

About the Opportunity

We're looking for a motivated Trades Assistant to join a leading heavy equipment workshop in Toowoomba.

In this hands-on role, you'll work alongside qualified tradespeople supporting the maintenance, repair and rebuild of Caterpillar and other heavy equipment. If you enjoy workshop environments, take pride in working safely and have a strong work ethic, we'd love to hear from you.

What You’ll be doing

• Assist qualified tradespeople with the maintenance, repair and rebuild of Caterpillar and other heavy equipment.
• Support workshop operations by preparing tools, equipment and work areas for maintenance activities.
• Load, unload and move parts, components and machinery using a forklift and other approved material-handling equipment.
• Operate forklifts safely and in accordance with company and site procedures.
• Assist with equipment inspections and servicing activities.
• Perform general workshop duties, housekeeping and maintain a clean, organised work environment.
• Follow all Workplace Health & Safety policies, procedures and safe work practices.
• Identify and report hazards, incidents and equipment defects.
• Conduct manual handling tasks and safely use workshop tools and equipment.

What We’re Looking For

• Current Forklift Licence (LF) - Essential
• Previous experience as a Trades Assistant, Workshop Assistant or similar role
• Experience working around heavy equipment, machinery, mining or construction equipment highly regarded
• Strong commitment to safety and teamwork
• Ability to undertake physically demanding work
• Reliable, motivated and eager to learn
• Current Driver's Licence and reliable transport
