Archer Daniels Midland Company is seeking a Scientist II for Enzyme Assay Development in Decatur, IL. The role focuses on high-throughput enzyme activity screening and automation in the EPC group, supporting fermentation, process development, and production operations.

The ideal candidate has a lab automation background (Beckman Biomek), enzyme kinetics understanding, and strong data communication skills to drive project success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry, Microbiology or Cell Biology is required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience with Beckman-Coulter Biomek liquid handling robotics for high-throughput assays is required.
• Experience with high-throughput enzymatic assays and biochemistries preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform safety and quality standards per ADM lab guidelines and participate in reviews.
• Develop, troubleshoot, and support high-throughput enzyme assays for fermentation and production.
• Create, validate, and implement new biochemical assays using lab automation.
• Serve as subject matter expert for automated assay development in project teams.
• Train colleagues and transfer assays across teams and locations.
• Generate and analyze data, communicate status to stakeholders.
