Qualifications

• Associate degree with at least 2 years of microbiology laboratory experience.
• Strong math skills and a critical mind.
• Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Excel.
• Willingness to learn and use laboratory information systems daily.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently after training.
• Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Prepare a variety of liquid and solid media, and other laboratory reagents accurately and efficiently.
• Keep glassware and other lab materials clean, sterile and ready for use.
• Sterilize, stock, and organize consumables.
• Safely autoclave and dispose of laboratory waste.
• Maintain inventories and identify replenishment needs.
• Receive, organize, and stock incoming laboratory supplies.
• Manage chemical ordering, storage, and disposal.
• Maintain laboratory equipment including refrigerators, freezers, incubators and biosafety cabinets.
• Coordinate equipment and room maintenance and repair requests.
• Keep shared lab spaces clean, organized, and fully stocked.
• Identify opportunities to improve organization and workflows.
• Support scientists and colleagues with additional lab activities.
