Job summary

2. The Role

This is a great opportunity for a graduate or early-career environmental scientist looking to build broad consulting experience across a diverse range of projects. Depending on your experience, you will be involved in:

• Undertaking environmental fieldwork, including surface water monitoring and sampling.
• Assisting with environmental and aquatic ecology field programs across North Queensland.
• Managing, reviewing and interpreting environmental monitoring data.
• Preparing technical reports, monitoring reports and other project documentation.
• Assisting with environmental assessments, compliance monitoring and environmental management projects.
• Working with GIS, Excel, R, Python and/or other data analysis tools where applicable.
• Liaising and working collaboratively with environmental scientists, clients and other project specialists.
• Developing your technical and consulting skills through mentoring and practical project experience.

We’re looking for individuals who are passionate about environmental science, enjoys a mix of field and technical work, and is keen to continue developing their skills. Ideally, you will have:

• A degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, or related fields.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and an ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• A willingness to undertake fieldwork and travel throughout North Queensland.
• A current Australian driver's licence.

Experience in consulting is desirable but not essential. Skills or experience in any of the following would be highly regarded:

• Surface water or groundwater monitoring and sampling.
• Aquatic ecology or ecological field surveys.
• Environmental data analysis and interpretation.
• GIS.
• R, Python and/or advanced Excel.
• Environmental monitoring or compliance reporting.
