Job summary

Sunwater is seeking a Senior Environmental Business Partner based in Rockhampton, Emerald or Biloela to provide expert environmental advice across the Fitzroy Region, partnering with leaders and operations to ensure safety, sustainability and regulatory compliance.

This full-time role offers an attractive base salary from AU$165,882 plus 12.75% superannuation, leave loading and flexible benefits, with a commitment to work/life balance and community-focused water solutions.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in environmental management, compliance or governance.
• Degree in environmental discipline or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop partnerships with leaders and teams, providing expert environmental advice for planning, project delivery and risk management.
• Guide on environmental aspects, constraints and complex risks with incident management and regulatory follow-up.
• Build environmental capability through coaching, training and practical support.
• Monitor commitments, licenses and permits; ensure controls are implemented and improved.
• Undertake inspections, audits and compliance reviews per legislation and standards.
• Maintain and improve the Environmental Management System to regulatory and industry standards.
• Identify emerging risks and drive corrective actions with regulators and stakeholders.
• Support reporting, data quality and regulatory compliance for decision making.
• Provide input into submissions, applications and negotiations with regulators.
• Develop and maintain environmental policies and procedures aligned with best practice.
