Job summary

The Aquarium seeks an experienced Environmental Business Partner to support planning and delivery of power infrastructure projects across Queensland and New South Wales. You will develop environmental documentation, coordinate approvals with clients and regulators, and provide practical environmental guidance through construction.

Qualifications

• At least five years’ experience in an environmental role, preferably within construction, utilities, energy or infrastructure.
• Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of Australian environmental legislation and its practical application.
• Experience working within an ISO 14001‑certified Environmental Management System.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist environmental advice across infrastructure projects and operational activities
• Develop project‑specific Construction Environmental Management Plans, subplans, procedures and work instructions
• Coordinate environmental consultation, documentation and approvals with clients and regulators
• Identify project environmental risks and recommend practical controls
• Review compliance with Environmental Impact Assessments, Reviews of Environmental Factors and approval conditions
• Monitor and report on environmental obligations, deliverables and performance indicators
• Conduct environmental assurance activities and support scheduled audits
• Prepare environmental compliance reports for clients and regulators
• Coach project teams and subcontractors on their environmental responsibilities
• Facilitate environmental workshops, toolbox talks and project briefings
• Lead or support environmental incident investigations
• Record, manage and close out environmental incidents and corrective actions
• Maintain and improve documentation within an ISO 14001‑certified Environmental Management System

Environmental Business Partner Queensland and New South Wales Projects

Join a major infrastructure environment and provide specialist environmental support across power and utilities projects in Queensland and New South Wales.

The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Environmental Business Partner to support the planning and delivery of power infrastructure projects across Queensland and New South Wales.

You will develop the environmental documentation required before projects mobilise, coordinate with clients and regulators to secure approvals, and provide practical environmental guidance once projects move into construction.
This is a hands‑on role combining environmental systems, project documentation, compliance, risk management and field‑based support. You will work closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, operational teams and subcontractors to embed strong environmental practices into day‑to‑day project delivery.

About You

You will be a practical and commercially aware environmental professional who can operate confidently at both the systems and project‑delivery levels.
To be successful, you will bring:

• At least five years’ experience in an environmental role, preferably within construction, utilities, energy or infrastructure
• Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline
• Strong knowledge of Australian environmental legislation and its practical application
• Experience working within an ISO 14001‑certified Environmental Management System
• Demonstrated experience developing CEMPs and other project environmental documentation
• The ability to identify risks and translate environmental requirements into workable site controls
• Strong client and stakeholder management skills
• Confidence presenting to operational leaders, project teams and field‑based work crews
• Excellent written communication and environmental reporting skills
• The ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines independently

Lead auditor training and ICAM investigation training will be highly regarded.
