Job summary

Ravenswood Gold Pty is seeking an Environmental Advisor to join the Environment, Approvals and Community team in Townsville. You will report to the Environmental Superintendent and support compliance, monitoring, reporting, and continuous improvement across our long-life mining operation.

This role blends fieldwork with regulatory work, stakeholder engagement, and project delivery to drive environmental excellence and safe operation at Queensland's largest gold mine.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or Environmental Management.
• Mining environmental experience (2+ years) is preferred.
• Sound understanding of EMS and Queensland environmental legislation.
• Experience coordinating monitoring, compliance and reporting activities.
• Experience preparing internal and external environmental reports.
• Experience managing environmental consultants and contractors.
• Proficiency in MS Office, GIS and environmental databases.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the EMS.
• Assist in management of land, water, waste, hazardous substances and exploration programs.
• Coordinate environmental monitoring and compliance activities across site.
• Prepare statutory and corporate reporting, including NGERS, NPI, DES waste and permits.
• Deliver environmental training, inspections, and contractor management.
• Provide practical environmental advice to operational teams.
• Coordinate and deliver environmental projects to support compliance and sustainability.
• Support EAC team across environmental and community initiatives.

Support environmental excellence at Queensland’s largest gold mine, helping drive compliance, sustainability, and responsible mining practices.

We’re seeking a motivated and experienced Environmental Advisor to join our Environment, Approvals and Community (EAC) team. Reporting to the Environmental Superintendent, you’ll play a key role in supporting environmental compliance, monitoring programs, reporting obligations, and continuous improvement initiatives across our operation.

This is an excellent opportunity for an environmental professional who enjoys a balance of field-based work, regulatory compliance, stakeholder engagement, and project delivery while contributing to positive environmental outcomes at a long-life mining operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and compliance with site standards and regulatory requirements.
• Support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the site’s Environmental Management System.
• Assist in the management of environmental programs covering land, water, waste, hazardous substances, regulated structures, and exploration activities.
• Coordinate environmental monitoring and compliance activities across site.
• Prepare and assist with statutory and corporate environmental reporting, including NGERS, NPI, DES waste reporting, permit returns, and internal reporting requirements.
• Deliver environmental training, awareness programs, inspections, contractor management activities, and incident investigations.
• Provide practical environmental advice and support to operational teams regarding environmental obligations and best practices.
• Coordinate and deliver environmental projects that support compliance, sustainability, and continuous improvement outcomes.
• Support the Environment, Approvals and Community team across a range of environmental and community initiatives.

About You

You are a proactive environmental professional with mining industry experience and a passion for achieving strong environmental and operational outcomes. You enjoy working collaboratively with stakeholders, solving problems, and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and environmental responsibility.

• Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a mining environmental role.
• Sound understanding of Environmental Management Systems and Queensland environmental legislation.
• Experience coordinating environmental monitoring, compliance, and reporting activities.
• Experience preparing internal and external environmental reports.
• Demonstrated experience managing environmental consultants and contractors.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, GIS systems, and environmental databases.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes within required timeframes.
• Strong commitment to safety, environmental compliance, and teamwork.
