Job summary

UGL Pty Limited (with CPB Contractors) leads the HumeLink West environmental scope for a major NSW transmission project. The role focuses on implementing robust environmental practices, compliance with NSW legislation, and delivering training across the site team.

The successful candidate will guide environmental design deliverables, support sub-contractor pre-qualifications and foster strong client relations, contributing to the project’s environmental performance on a large, multi-kilometre

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in relevant environmental roles in Civil Construction.
• Solid understanding of NSW Environmental Legislation and ability to interpret standards and codes.
• Experience developing and interpreting project documents, preparing reports and monitoring compliance.
• Strong time management and workload prioritisation.

Responsibilities

• Identify and implement initiatives to position the project as a leader in environmental practices.
• Audit, amend and implement the Construction Environmental Management Plan.
• Provide sound technical advice, training and assistance to the project team.
• Support Environment Manager in delivering training for direct reports and front-line leaders.
• Assist with reviewing Environmental Design Deliverables for Work Packages.
• Assist Commercial Team with sub-contractor scope developments and pre-qualifications.
• Maintain positive relationships with client representatives and project management teams.

Job description

HumeLink West Project Two CIMIC Group companies, UGL and CPB Contractors have been selected by Transgrid to deliver the 130km western section of the HumeLink high voltage electricity transmission project. HumeLink is a new 500kV transmission project which will connect Wagga Wagga, Maragle and Bannaby in regional NSW that will significantly increase the capacity of the electricity network in Australia’s eastern states. HumeLink is one of Australia’s largest energy infrastructure projects, with about 365kms of proposed new transmission lines and a range of other new and upgraded infrastructure. The HumeLink West scope of works, worth $1.4bn, includes delivery of new 500kV double circuit transmission lines spanning 130kms from Wagga Wagga Substation to a new Substation at Gugaa, the Interface Point with HumeLink East near Gundagai and a new substation at Maragle in the Snowy Mountains for future connection to Snowy 2.0.

Please note this role will be site based requiring FIFO on a 10:4 Roster, where additional allowances will apply.

What will a day in this role look like:

• Identifying and implementing where appropriate initiatives that identify the Project as a leader in Environmental practices.
• Auditing, amending and implementation of the Construction Environmental Management Plan
• Providing sound and timely technical advice, training and assistance to the project
• Supporting the Environment Manager in developing, implementing and delivering training packages for direct reports and Front-Line leaders
• Supporting the Environment Manager and design team in reviewing the Environmental Design Deliverables for the Work Packages
• Supporting the Environment Manager and the Commercial Team in sub-contractor scope developments and pre-qualifications
• Maintaining a positive and outcome driven relationship with key project team members such as the Client representatives and senior project management and supervision teams

What are we looking for you to bring to the team:

• Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or related discipline
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in relevant environmental roles in the Civil Construction industry
• Sound understanding of NSW Environmental Legislation with proven ability to review and interpret relevant legislation, standards and codes of practice and contractual requirements
• Demonstrated ability in developing and interpreting project related documents, preparing reports and monitoring compliance documentation
• Good personal time management skills with an ability to effectively prioritise and manage assigned workload

The successful candidate will be required to hold a current Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card or equivalent) and undergo a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing) prior to commencement.

Where applicable, evidence of tertiary qualifications and proof of right to work will be required prior to successful appointment.
