Job summary

UGL Pty Limited, in partnership with CPB Contractors, seeks an Assistant Overhead Transmission Linesworker to join our stringing crews on the HumeLink project based in Tarcutta, NSW.

You will climb structures, interpret drawings, and assist with construction and maintenance of lines, with all flights, accommodation and meals provided in brand new camps. The role is full-time permanent, FIFO/DIDO, and requires 5 years of experience, Construction Whitecard, and High Risk Licences.

Qualifications

• 5 years' experience on Overhead Transmission Line projects.
• Construction Whitecard.
• High Risk Work Licences and Tower Rescue.

Responsibilities

• Climbing transmission structures.
• Upgrade and construction of new and existing assets.
• Study and interpret technical drawings, network line diagrams and maps.
• Liaise with Network Operator Inspectors and customers.
• Complete comprehensive risk assessments.
• Maintain work in progress plans.
• Installing and maintaining conductors, aerial equipment, and underground cables.
• Installing and maintaining all associated electrical supply equipment.
• Attending to electrical breakdowns and emergencies.
• Adhering to site specific health and safety policies and procedures.

Job description

The Project UGL and CPB Contractors have been selected by Transgrid to deliver the ~140km western section of the HumeLink high voltage electricity transmission project. HumeLink is a new 500kV transmission project which will connect Wagga Wagga, Maragle and Bannaby in regional NSW that will significantly increase the capacity of the electricity network in Australia’s eastern states. HumeLink is one of Australia’s largest energy infrastructure projects, with about 365kms of proposed new transmission lines and a range of other new and upgraded infrastructure. The HumeLink West scope of works, worth $1.4bn, includes delivery of new 500kV double circuit transmission lines spanning ~140kms from Wagga Wagga Substation to a new Substation at Gugaa, the Interface Point with HumeLink East near Gundagai and a new substation at Maragle in the Snowy Mountains for future connection to Snowy 2.0.

The Role: We are looking for Assistant Overhead Transmission Linesworkers to join our Stringing crews. You will play a key role in our transmission tower construction teams, working within an established crew on a large-scale infrastructure project. This will be a full-time permanent opportunity on a FIFO/DIDO basis, based in Tarcutta, NSW. All flights, accommodations and meals provided in brand new camps.

• Climbing of transmission structures

About you / Key Requirements:

• Demonstrated 5 years' experience working on Overhead Transmission Line projects involved in Stringing and Conductor process – essential
• Construction Whitecard
• High Risk Work Licenses: Rigging, Dogging, EWP (over 11m) and Working at Heights
• Tower Rescue
• Any additional HRWL applicable to the role
• Trade Certification – Cert III ESI – Transmission Overhead or equivalent desirable
• UETDRTO016 – Installing Transmission Structure Hardware – desirable
• Ability to complete a pre-employment medical
