Job summary

Abergeldie Complex Infrastructure, in collaboration with partner teams, seeks an Environmental Advisor to support the West Region Delivery Team for Sydney Water projects. You will provide environmental advice, identify risks, implement controls and help ensure compliance across active construction sites.

You will work with operational and project teams, regulators and clients to drive environmental performance and continuous improvement through inspections, reporting and training.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science/Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years' experience as Environmental Advisor in civil infrastructure.
• Experience on linear infrastructure projects (water, wastewater, roads, rail, utilities).
• Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and EMS.
• Experience with erosion and sediment control planning and monitoring.
• Strong report writing and documentation skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day environmental support to project teams.
• Conduct environmental inspections, audits and compliance assessments.

About The West Region Delivery Team

The West Region Delivery Team consortium comprises Abergeldie Complex Infrastructure and Fulton Hogan for construction, Programmed for maintenance and facility management, and Stantec and Atlas for design and engineering.

The West Region Delivery Team is integrated with Sydney Water under a collaborative contracting framework, Partnering for Success (P4S). The West Region Delivery Team has been engaged to deliver design, construction, maintenance and facility management services for a ten (10) year program across Sydney Water's wastewater, water and recycled water systems.

About The Opportunity

We are seeking an Environmental Advisor to join the West Region Delivery Team, supporting the delivery of a diverse portfolio of water and wastewater infrastructure projects for Sydney Water.

Supporting multiple construction projects across the program, you will provide environmental advice, identify and manage risks, implement controls and help ensure compliance throughout project delivery. Working closely with operational and project teams, you will help drive environmental performance and best practice across active construction sites.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Providing day-to-day environmental support and guidance to project delivery teams.
• Conducting environmental inspections, audits and compliance assessments across construction sites.
• Monitoring and reporting on compliance with environmental management plans, approvals, permits and legislative requirements.
• Supporting the implementation and maintenance of erosion and sediment controls
• Assisting with environmental risk assessments and identifying opportunities to improve environmental performance.
• Investigating environmental incidents, non-conformances and complaints, and supporting corrective actions.
• Preparing environmental reports, monitoring records and project compliance documentation.
• Delivering environmental awareness training and guidance to project personnel and subcontractors.
• Liaising with clients, regulators and key stakeholders on environmental matters.
• Supporting the development and continuous improvement of environmental management processes and systems.

What You'll Bring To The Team

• Tertiary qualifications Environmental Science/Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 3 years' experience in an Environmental Advisor or similar role within civil infrastructure construction.
• Experience working on linear infrastructure projects such as water, wastewater, roads, rail, utilities or similar construction environments.
• Sound knowledge of environmental legislation, regulatory requirements and environmental management systems.
• Practical experience with erosion and sediment control planning, implementation and monitoring, including a strong understanding of Blue Book requirements.
• Strong report writing skills and the ability to prepare clear, accurate and concise environmental documentation.
• Experience conducting environmental inspections, audits, incident investigations and compliance assessments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and build effective working relationships across site teams.
