Job summary

Tungsten Mining is seeking an on-site Environmental Advisor to lead practical environmental controls for the Watershed Project in North Queensland. You will translate regulatory requirements into actionable site practices, support permits, and work closely with project and operations teams.

Working with regulators, landholders and communities, you will monitor compliance, document environmental performance, and drive continuous improvement through field-based activities and reporting.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resources, or related discipline.
• Sound knowledge of Australian environmental legislation, approval processes and regulatory frameworks relevant to mining.
• Experience in construction, mining or drilling environments.
• Proven ability implementing environmental management plans, approval conditions, permits or company environmental procedures.
• Experience supporting ground disturbance, vegetation clearing, rehabilitation or similar field-based environmental activities.
• Ability to balance compliance requirements with practical project and operational realities.
• Exposure to stakeholder engagement with regulators, landholders or communities.
• Proactive approach with a solution-focused mindset and strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day environmental advice and support to site personnel and contractors.
• Coordinate environmental monitoring, reporting and compliance activities.
• Support the implementation of environmental permits and Ground Disturbance Permits, including environmental controls, disturbance tracking and rehabilitation requirements
• Support environmental incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Prepare environmental procedures, standards and guidance documents.
• Maintain environmental records, registers and compliance evidence and provide site information to support environmental reporting and regulatory submissions.
• Engage with regulators, landholders, Traditional Owners and community stakeholders.
• Provide practical environmental advice to project and site teams.

The Role

About You

Working closely with project, operational and HSE teams, you will provide environmental leadership on site, helping ensure the Watershed Project is delivered responsibly and sustainably.

You will be comfortable working in a hands-on project environment and translating environmental requirements into practical controls that can be understood and implemented by operational and contractor teams. In addition, you will possess the following.

• Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resources or related discipline.
• Sound knowledge of Australian environmental legislation, approval processes and regulatory frameworks relevant to mining and resources.
• Prior experience working in a construction, mining or drilling environment.
• Proven ability implementing environmental management plans, approval conditions, permits or company environmental procedures.
• Experience supporting ground disturbance, vegetation clearing, rehabilitation or similar field-based environmental activities.
• Confidence working independently in a site environment while collaborating closely with a broader environmental team.
• Exposure to stakeholder engagement with regulators, landholders or communities.
• Proactive approach with a solution-focused mindset.
• Ability to balance compliance requirements with practical project and operational realities.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective partnerships at all levels.
