Job summary

face2face Recruitment is seeking a Senior Database Engineer in Melbourne/Brisbane/Wollongong to design, build and maintain enterprise databases using AWS Aurora PostgreSQL. You will collaborate with application, DevOps and architecture teams to optimise performance, automate deployments and strengthen data resilience.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience with AWS RDS Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Strong expertise in PostgreSQL design, SQL development and query optimisation.
• Experience with database performance monitoring, scalability and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of database backup, recovery, high availability and disaster recovery.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, database migrations and Infrastructure as Code.
• Excellent analytical, communication, stakeholder management and technical leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement PostgreSQL schemas, indexes and database artefacts
• Develop and optimise SQL queries, functions and triggers for performance and data integrity
• Monitor database performance and implement proactive optimisation strategies
• Establish backup, recovery and disaster recovery procedures
• Implement automated database deployments, migration strategies and Infrastructure as Code
• Conduct code reviews, mentor colleagues and promote database engineering best practices
