Job summary

Konnexus is seeking a senior AI governance leader in Australia to partner with risk, legal and technology teams to enable safe, responsible and scalable AI adoption across the organisation.

The role focuses on designing enterprise-wide governance, standards and assurance capabilities, with a strong emphasis on compliance, risk management and executive oversight of AI initiatives.

Qualifications

• Design and implement enterprise-wide AI governance, testing, assurance and validation frameworks.

• Create an independent AI assurance capability to support informed decision-making and risk management.
• Define governance and accountability models for safe and responsible AI use.
• Develop evidence-based validation and assurance practices for compliance and oversight.
• Partner with Risk, Legal, Technology and Transformation teams to align with regulatory requirements.
• Identify opportunities for AI-driven transformation, automation and productivity uplift.
• Design scalable operating models and adoption strategies for enterprise-wide AI adoption.

Member of the broader Strategy & Transformation function, partnering closely with leaders across Business Analysis & Design, Continuous Improvement & Process Excellence, Business Testing, Technology, Risk, Data, Digital and Enterprise Transformation teams. This role requires someone who is a formerData Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer or Analytics Leader who retains a strong understanding of model development, MLOps and the end-to-end AI lifecycle but has transitioned into AI governance, risk, responsible AI, operating models or enterprise AI adoption. You need to be experienced in developing AI frameworks, standards, policies and controls that enable the safe and effective use of AI across an organisation.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement enterprise-wide AI governance, testing, assurance and validation frameworks.

Experience Required:

• Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise AI governance frameworks, assurance models and operating standards, ideally supported by a background in Data Science, Machine Learning or advanced analytics.
• Strong understanding of the end-to-end AI and ML lifecycle, including model development, deployment, risk management and responsible AI practices within large organisations.
• Demonstrated expertise in governance, testing, quality assurance, risk, compliance and regulatory environments.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement, facilitation and influencing skills, with the ability to engage confidently with executives, business leaders and technical teams.
• Experience leading organisational change and AI transformation initiatives, with the ability to translate strategic objectives into practical, scalable outcomes.
