Job summary

Bridge IT Engineering in Canberra is seeking an experienced AI Governance / Assurance Specialist for a 9-month contract with extension options. The role focuses on assessing AI/ML capabilities through governance, assurance, risk and technical evidence.

You will work with technical, operational, policy and governance teams to review claims, evidence and documentation, and to provide balanced, risk-informed advice to senior decision-makers.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience developing, implementing, managing, assuring, testing, evaluating or governing AI, machine learning, data-driven or advanced technology solutions.
  • Experience applying engineering, systems engineering, risk, assurance, operational analysis, experimentation, test and evaluation to complex real-world problems.
  • Strong ability to assess technical evidence, documentation, performance claims, assumptions and risks.
  • Experience preparing reports, briefs, submissions or technical advice for senior stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Demonstrated experience working across technical, governance, operational or policy functions.
  • Australian citizenship and a current NV1 security clearance minimum.

Responsibilities

  • Translate business, operational and capability requirements into practical technology-enabled outcomes.
  • Prepare reports, briefs, submissions, technical assessments and decision-support advice for senior stakeholders.
  • Engage with technical, operational, governance and policy stakeholders across complex environments.
  • Support the application of responsible AI, ethical AI, privacy, security, model assurance and technology risk principles.

Bridge IT is seeking an experienced AI Governance / Assurance Specialist to support a Federal Government environment in Canberra. This role is focused on assessing AI, machine learning and advanced technology solutions through a governance, assurance, risk and technical evidence lens.

The successful candidate will work across technical, operational, policy and governance functions to assess AI/ML capability claims, review evidence, support assurance activities and provide balanced, risk-informed advice to senior decision-makers.

Key Responsibilities

To be successful, you will have:
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Machine Learning, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics or another STEM discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience developing, implementing, managing, assuring, testing, evaluating or governing AI, machine learning, data-driven or advanced technology solutions.
  • Experience applying engineering, systems engineering, risk, assurance, operational analysis, experimentation, test and evaluation or similar methodologies to complex real-world problems.
  • Strong ability to assess technical evidence, documentation, performance claims, assumptions and risks.
  • Experience preparing reports, briefs, submissions or technical advice for senior stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Demonstrated experience working across technical, governance, operational or policy functions.
  • Australian citizenship and a current NV1 security clearance minimum.
Highly Desirable

Experience across some of the following would be highly regarded:

  • Defence, Defence Industry, DSTG, National Security or Commonwealth Government environments.
  • Generative AI, Large Language Models, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, prompt engineering, autonomy, computer vision or advanced analytics.
  • AI governance, responsible AI, ethical AI, model assurance, technology risk or assurance frameworks.
  • Verification, validation, assurance, certification, accreditation, IV&V, test and evaluation or capability assurance.
  • Cloud-based AI and machine learning platforms such as Microsoft Azure AI, AWS AI/ML or Google Cloud AI.
  • Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn or similar AI/ML frameworks.
  • Model Cards, System Cards, Use Case documentation, Assurance Cases or equivalent governance artefacts.
  • MLOps, DevOps, model lifecycle management or operational deployment of AI/ML solutions.
  • Power BI, Tableau or other data visualisation tools.
  • Technical leadership, project management, workshops, stakeholder engagement or change management for AI, digital or emerging technology initiatives.
