Captain Form is a Sydney-based construction company specialising in formwork, concrete construction and associated structural works across commercial and residential projects. We seek a full-time Engineering Technologist to support with practical implementation and technical guidance on site.

The candidate will work with the Civil Engineer and project team to develop technical solutions, review drawings, and ensure safety and quality compliance across projects.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Engineering, Engineering Technology or a related discipline.
• Relevant experience in engineering technology, construction engineering, formwork, concrete or structural construction.
• Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Experience preparing and reviewing technical drawings and project documentation.
• Knowledge of relevant construction standards, quality requirements and WHS obligations.

• Analyse engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation to determine requirements for formwork, concrete and structural construction works.
• Collaborate with the Civil Engineer to translate designs into practical construction methods and site requirements.
• Prepare and modify technical drawings and documentation for formwork systems and related structural works.
• Evaluate methods and materials to improve efficiency, safety and technical performance.
• Develop and implement technical solutions for formwork and concrete construction requirements.
• Conduct inspections and testing to ensure conformity with specifications and project requirements.
• Coordinate technical requirements between engineering, project management and site teams.

Job description

As our operations and project requirements continue to develop, we are seeking full time, experienced Engineering Technologist to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with our Civil Engineer, project management team and site personnel, providing technical support and assisting with the practical implementation of engineering solutions across our projects.

Benefits

Salary Range: $110,000 - $150,000 plus superannuation

Task & responsibilities

• Analyse engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation to determine requirements for formwork, concrete and structural construction works.
• Work collaboratively with the Civil Engineer to translate engineering designs and specifications into practical construction methods, technical layouts and site requirements.
• Prepare and modify technical drawings, layouts and documentation for formwork systems and associated structural works.
• Analyse existing construction methods, formwork systems and engineering technologies and recommend modifications to improve efficiency, safety and technical performance.
• Assist with the development and implementation of technical solutions for complex formwork and concrete construction requirements.
• Evaluate construction materials, formwork systems and technical methods to determine their suitability for specific projects.
• Conduct technical inspections and testing of formwork systems and installations to ensure conformity with engineering specifications, drawings and project requirements.
• Identify technical issues during construction and work with the Civil Engineer and project teams to develop appropriate practical solutions.
• Monitor the implementation of engineering requirements on site and provide technical guidance to supervisors, tradespeople and subcontractors.
• Coordinate technical requirements between engineering, project management, formwork, steel fixing and concrete teams.
• Prepare and maintain technical records, inspection reports, drawings and quality documentation.
• Review completed works and construction methodologies and recommend technical and operational improvements.
• Ensure engineering technologies and construction methodologies are implemented in accordance with relevant standards, project specifications and workplace safety requirements.

Qualification & experience

• Relevant qualification in Engineering, Engineering Technology or a related discipline.
• Relevant experience in engineering technology, construction engineering, formwork, concrete or structural construction.
• Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Experience preparing and reviewing technical drawings and project documentation.
• Sound knowledge of formwork systems, concrete construction, structural components and construction materials.
• Strong analytical, technical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively with engineers, project managers, supervisors and site teams.
• Knowledge of relevant construction standards, quality requirements and WHS obligations.
