Our client Basic Principles Pty Ltd is a Minchinbury-based construction and trades business supporting practical site-based projects across commercial and building environments.
Our client is seeking to add a Civil Engineering Technician to assist with site inspections, construction material assessments, technical measurements, quality control, remedial works and project coordination while supporting the delivery of reliable and compliant construction outcomes.
Job responsibilities
- Conduct site inspections to identify concrete defects, deterioration, water ingress and other construction issues.
- Take field measurements and calculate repair areas, material quantities and approximate work requirements.
- Assist with assessing concrete repairs, waterproofing systems, expansion joints and associated remedial works.
- Review plans, technical details, work scopes, mark-ups and manufacturer documentation for site activities.
- Collect, record and analyse site data to support construction assessments and remedial planning.
- Monitor rectification works against specified methods, technical requirements and approved construction procedures.
- Inspect completed works for workmanship, surface condition, repair quality and outstanding defects.
- Assist with assessing construction materials for suitability against site conditions and technical requirements.
- Prepare technical, photographic and quality control records relating to inspections and completed works.
- Support investigations into water ingress, cracking, structural deterioration and other latent site conditions.
- Coordinate labour, equipment, materials and site access according to project requirements and work sequencing.
- Assist with estimating material quantities and costs for planned construction and remedial activities.
- Maintain site safety controls including work-zone isolation, pedestrian management, PPE and site handover requirements.
- Report significant site conditions and technical findings to engineers, project managers and client representatives.
Requirements
- At least a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering or another closely related technical construction discipline is required. Three years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of the formal qualification.
- At least 12 months of relevant work experience in a related technical or construction environment is required.
- Demonstrated experience conducting site inspections, field measurements and technical assessments within active construction or remedial environments is essential.
- Practical experience preparing technical records, quality assurance documentation, photographic reports and construction-related site information is required.
- Sound knowledge of concrete repair methods, waterproofing systems, construction materials and defect identification within building environments is required.
- Experience coordinating rectification works, materials, equipment and site activities while maintaining appropriate work sequencing is essential.
- Ability to interpret plans, technical documentation, work scopes and manufacturer specifications relevant to construction activities is required.
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements, site controls and safe construction practices is essential.
