Job summary

The Fullerton Hotel Sydney is seeking an Engineering Supervisor to lead the Engineering and Handyperson teams, ensuring facilities, systems and equipment meet the highest operational and safety standards. You will coordinate preventative maintenance across guest areas and back-of-house spaces while overseeing contractor activity and asset improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory experience within a hotel, hospitality, or large commercial property environment.
• Trade qualifications in Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, Building Services, Carpentry, Plumbing, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, or a related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance planning and building services.
• Demonstrated experience managing contractors and coordinating multiple priorities.
• Sound understanding of Workplace Health & Safety legislation and safe work practices.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong leadership capability with a hands-on, service-oriented approach.
• Ability to build positive relationships across all hotel departments.
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster including mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
• Relevant licences and certifications will be highly regarded, including Fire Safety/Warden, Work at Heights, or Confined Space certifications.

Responsibilities

• Supervising and coordinating the day-to-day activities of the Engineering and Handyperson teams.
• Leading preventative maintenance programs across guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house facilities, and building services.
• Managing Out of Order (OOO) rooms to ensure timely rectification and return to inventory.
• Allocating, prioritising, and monitoring reactive and preventative maintenance work orders.
• Conducting regular inspections to identify maintenance requirements and safety risks.
• Coordinating engineering support with Housekeeping, Front Office, Food & Beverage, Events, and Security teams.
• Monitoring the performance and condition of building services, plant equipment, air conditioning systems, pumps, boilers, kitchen equipment, and lighting systems.
• Managing contractors and service providers to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to hotel standards.
• Assisting with refurbishment projects, capital works, and asset improvement initiatives.
• Supporting emergency response activities and providing leadership during operational incidents.
• Acting as the department representative in the absence of the Director of Engineering or Senior Assistant Chief Engineer.
