Engineering Manager – Software Development

We're recruiting an experienced Engineering Manager for a 12-18 month fixed term to lead three software engineering teams delivering complex products and applications for an established Australian technology organisation. This is an opportunity for a collaborative engineering leader who enjoys developing people, improving delivery performance and working across a complex technology environment where priorities, dependencies and requirements continue to evolve.

What you'll be doing

You'll provide leadership across 3 software engineering teams, ensuring they have the direction, support and collaboration needed to deliver high-quality software products.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading, coaching and developing Engineering Leads, building capability, accountability and strong team performance.
• Working with product and engineering stakeholders to translate roadmap priorities into achievable delivery outcomes.
• Improving engineering delivery, predictability and visibility across multiple teams.
• Identifying and addressing technical debt, systemic issues and delivery constraints.
• Collaborating with architecture, security, operations and release teams to resolve dependencies and improve outcomes.
• Driving consistent engineering standards, quality practices and continuous improvement.
• Helping teams navigate complexity, ambiguity and changing priorities while maintaining delivery momentum.

About you

You'll be an experienced Engineering Manager or Software Development Manager with a strong background in software engineering and proven experience leading teams in complex delivery environments.

Ideally, you'll bring:

• Proven experience managing multiple software engineering teams, including coaching, performance management and developing Engineering Leads.
• Experience delivering complex SaaS products, enterprise applications or large-scale software initiatives.
• A strong background in backend or full-stack software development, ideally with experience in C#/.NET environments.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, APIs, cloud-native applications and modern engineering practices.
• Experience working in Agile, DevOps or similarly collaborative software delivery environments.
• The ability to identify systemic issues, improve engineering processes and drive consistent delivery outcomes.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and confidence working across multiple technical and business functions.
• The ability to operate effectively through ambiguity, changing priorities and organisational complexity.
