Job summary

VALD is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Brisbane-based engineering team. You will guide people, shape the engineering organization, and allocate resources across technology and product areas.

The role emphasizes leadership over hands-on coding, with a strong focus on architecture, security, quality, and reliability. You will partner with platform and security teams, support post-incident follow-ups, and drive continuous improvement while collaborating with product to align strategy

Qualifications

• This is a people leadership and engineering management role, not a hands-on software development position.
• Strong software engineering background with the technical credibility to discuss architecture, system design, security and reliability.
• 7+ years of software development experience with a demonstrated transition into engineering leadership.

Responsibilities

• People Management responsibilities including 1:1s, coaching, performance management and team health.
• Recruiting & resourcing: own end-to-end engineering recruitment and onboarding/offboarding.
• Engineering Leadership: partner with technical leads to improve processes and drive compliance with security and reliability goals.
