Job summary

VALD is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Brisbane-based engineering team at our global headquarters. You’ll drive people management, strategic leadership, and resource allocation to enable growth and innovative delivery.

With a strong software background and 7+ years in software development, you’ll influence architecture, security, and operational reliability while fostering a high-performing culture and collaboration with Product and Platform teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software development experience with a transition into engineering leadership.
• Strong software engineering background with the ability to discuss architecture, security, quality and reliability.
• Experience leading teams delivering cloud-hosted SaaS and modern delivery practices (CI/CD, IaC, automated testing).

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor engineers across the team, including coaching, performance management and career development.
• Own end-to-end recruitment pipelines and onboarding/offboarding for engineering staff.
• Partner with platform and security teams to drive engineering quality and compliance initiatives.
• Support post-incident reviews and follow-up actions across engineering teams.
