Job summary

Karbon is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Engagements to Payments (E2P) team, guiding design decisions and architecture across frontend and backend systems. You will manage a growing team, drive delivery quality and reliability, and coordinate with Product and Tech Leads to balance new features with maintenance.

The role emphasizes strong technical foundations, cross-location teamwork, and a commitment to continuous delivery in a distributed environment.

Qualifications

• Senior IC background before moving into management.
• 2+ years as Engineering Manager.
• Strong track record improving quality and speed through technical and process changes.
• Clear understanding of distributed systems and data integrity.
• Clear communication across locations and time zones.

Responsibilities

• Hire, onboard and grow the team with clear expectations and feedback.
• Raise the bar on technical quality: boundaries, designs and operational standards.
• Improve delivery speed and quality by reducing lead time and change failure rate with customers front and center.
• Own reliability with the team: SLOs, observability, system health and blameless incident reviews.
• Plan and deliver with Product and Tech Leads, balancing features, improvements, bugs and maintenance.
• Give the team autonomy with clear goals and accountability, and collaborate with other teams.
