Job summary

Meriton is seeking a Senior Structural Design Engineering Manager to lead design delivery across multiple high-rise developments. Based in Sydney and reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will coordinate external consultants and internal teams to ensure compliant, efficient solutions.

You will review ETABS models, oversee value engineering opportunities, and manage tenders, with a focus on constructability and cost control for dense urban projects.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience as a structural design engineer or similar role.
• Experience with large-scale, multi-unit and mixed-use high-rise buildings.
• Strong understanding of concrete framed buildings, structural steel, PT slabs and precast elements.
• Experience communicating with external consultants and coordinating design teams.

Job description

For over 60 years, Meriton has been designing and building award-winning apartments in the best possible locations, close to 80,000 apartments to our name across Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Melbourne and Canberra.

We have a volume oflarge-scale multi-unit and mixed-use projects currently under development, with more projects consistently in the pipeline.

The engineering department (based in Sydney CBD) is responsible for overseeing the design management of the entire Meriton portfolio. In this role you will be reporting to the Head of Engineering.

About the Position:

As Structural Design Engineering Manager, you will be required to manage, organise and coordinate the engineering of several developments at any one time.

Key Duties Include:

Manage delivery of design documentation from external consultants.

Manage the interface between the external Engineers and Architects.

Peer reviews of consultants' ETABS models and designs.

Review consultants designs for code compliance and in accordance with Meriton’s construction methods.

Review schemes to find value engineering opportunities to minimise construction costs and/or program.

Prepare, manage and review tenders for various subcontracts.

Provide technical solutions requested by the construction team to manage any design change to suit site conditions and constructability issues.

What you need to succeed:

10+ years as a structural design engineer or similar role, working with a developer or a builder on large-scale, multi-unit and mixed use high rise buildings.

Proven Experience (from concept to completion), as design engineer with full understanding of local construction methodologies throughout all areas of residential development – This is a key requirement.

Have a strong understanding of structures - in particular concrete framed buildings, structural steel, PT slabs and precast elements.

Experience in high-rise buildings is essential and Tall Building (50-80 storeys) or more would be an advantage.

• Experience with ETABS, STRAND7 and Ram Concept (PT & RC)

Capable of working in a team environment and problem solving.

Ability communicate clearly and manage external consultants
