Job summary

Gold Fields is seeking an experienced Mine Ventilation Engineer for the St Ives Gold Mine. You will report to the Mine Ventilation Superintendent and optimise ventilation demand and supply to support efficient gold extraction.

Role includes FIFO roster of 8/6 from Perth, and opportunities for company-provided accommodation for eligible candidates relocating to Kambalda. You will also lead ventilation projects and ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Completion of WHS risk management units and WA WHS legislation examination.
• Hold a manual driver's licence.

Responsibilities

• Drive ventilation planning across LOM, quarterly, weekly and monthly horizons to support production, safety and mine strategy, ensuring records are maintained.
• Lead ventilation coordination and communicate constraints and instructions to mining teams and contractors.
• Support continuous improvement and project delivery through ventilation projects and capital infrastructure planning.

Job description

• Permanent role with a leading gold producer
• Bring your experience within underground mining & ventilation
• 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth

The Opportunity

You will work closely with a diverse team, reporting to the Mine Ventilation Superintendent to optimise ventilation demand and supply to support efficient gold extraction and maximise business value for our Underground Mining Team at St Ives Gold Mine.

Up to six months’ free, company-provided accommodation may be available for eligible candidates from under-represented groups (for example, women in mining and Indigenous Australians) relocating to Kambalda for permanent roles.

Accommodation includes basic furnishings and utilities and is subject to availability and housing policy, with support available to assist with transitioning to a lease after the initial six-month period. Eligibility and final terms will be discussed during the recruitment process.

What You’ll Do

• Drive ventilation planning across LOM, quarterly, weekly and monthly horizons to support production, safety and long-term mine strategy, ensuring all statutory requirements and records are accurately maintained.
• Lead clear ventilation coordination and communication by defining constraints, issuing instructions, and providing direction to mining teams, underground personnel, contractors and graduates.
• Support continuous improvement and project delivery through involvement in ventilation projects, capital infrastructure planning, and monitoring of ventilation system performance.
• Ensure that all statutory responsibilities and obligations are fulfilled in a timely manner and that accurate and up to date record keeping is maintained and communicated to underground personnel to ensure that short and long term planning of the ventilation circuit with mine development and needs of the mine
• Carry out the legislated duties of the Ventilation Officer under WA legislation.

What You’ll Bring

• Recognised Tertiary Degree in Bachelor of Engineering, or hold the full qualifications to be appointed under Schedule 26 of the Work Health and Safety regulations 2022
• A manual driver’s licence.
• Completion of all required WHS risk management units as well as the required legislation examination
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, and mining software such as Deswik CAD with experience with Ventsim Design would be highly regarded.
