Job summary

Queensland Government is seeking a Civil Engineer to project manage road infrastructure projects under supervision, administering contracts and providing technical support across design, construction and maintenance.

The role involves coordinating road network impacts, managing project elements, and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships to ensure timely, compliant delivery.

Qualifications

  • A four-year, Washington Accord accredited, Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalence assessed by Engineers Australia against Washington Accord benchmarks.
  • Current C class drivers licence.

Responsibilities

  • Administer road and bridge maintenance contracts to ensure compliance and delivery to Transport & Main Roads specifications.
  • Identify problem areas and negotiate modifications to design briefs for acceptance.
  • Calculate quantities of materials, analyse test results, identify non-conformances, and manage risk assessments.
  • Provide monthly financial forecasting and supervise project elements under guidance.
  • Maintain stakeholder relationships, manage expectations, and handle high-risk issues professionally.

Job description

With supervision and guidance from senior engineering staff, you will project manage the delivery of road infrastructure projects through the administration of contracts and provision of technical expertise and support to the design, construction andmaintenance processes.Some of your responsibilities will include:- Administer road and bridge maintenance contracts to ensure compliance and successful delivery to Transport & Main Roads specifications.- Identify possible problem areas and negotiate modifications or adaptations to design briefs where necessary to achieve acceptance.- Calculate quantities of component materials, analyse test results for materials, identify non-conformances, determine the controls needed during construction, and conduct and manage risk assessment.- Manage under supervision, projects or elements of projects and provide monthly financial forecasting.- Maintain communication and alliances with stakeholders, manage expectations and issues, and identify possible political and high risk matters to ensure they are dealt with in a timely and professional manner.Requirements of the role:- Engineering Operations - Applies a professional input to the operation of engineering activities under guidance.- Coordinate response to road network impacts through the application of processes, systems, and resourcing to enable the safe and efficient operation of the road network.- Contract Administration - Applies an understanding of contract administration to administer construction contracts.- Project Management - Applies project management principles and methodology to achieve project outcomes for construction projects.- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to enable the collaborative delivery of customer-focused outcomes.Mandatory qualifications and conditions:- A four-year, Washington Accord accredited, Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalence which is assessed/accepted by Engineers Australia against Washington Accord benchmarks.- Current C class drivers licence.- Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be conducted on the recommended person for this role.Why choose TMR?
