Job summary

Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) Central West District is seeking a Manager (Delivery & Operations) to lead the delivery of a regional transport infrastructure program from Barcaldine. You will influence district strategy, manage a team of project managers and engineers, and coordinate with local government, industry and communities to deliver road, bridge and maintenance contracts.

The role requires a Civil Engineering background with Washington Accord accreditation, RPEQ

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) accredited by Washington Accord.
• Current registration as Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ).
• Extensive experience delivering road infrastructure programs and contracts.
• Strong program and project management capabilities.

• Lead planning, delivery and performance of the district's infrastructure program.

Based in Barcaldine, you'll lead a diverse portfolio of road and transport infrastructure projects while contributing to the strategic direction of the district as a member of the District Leadership Team. This opportunity combines technical expertise, strategic leadership and people management to help shape the future of one of Queensland's most rewarding regions.

About the role

As Manager (Delivery & Operations), you will lead the delivery and performance of a significant transport infrastructure investment program across the district. Working closely with project teams, stakeholders and senior leaders, you'll ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with community and government expectations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the planning, delivery and performance of the district's infrastructure program.
• Providing strategic advice to the District Director on priorities, risks and delivery outcomes.
• Leading and developing project managers and technical teams.
• Monitoring program performance, budgets and schedules.
• Overseeing the delivery of complex road, bridge and maintenance contracts. Building strong relationships with local government, industry and community stakeholders.
• Leading stakeholder engagement activities that support successful project delivery. Ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, governance and technical standards.

About you

You are an experienced engineering leader with a strong background in infrastructure delivery, stakeholder engagement and team leadership. You can balance competing priorities, lead through complexity and deliver outcomes that benefit regional communities.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

• A Washington Accord accredited Bachelor of Engineering (Civil), or equivalent recognised by Engineers Australia.
• Current Registration as a Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ).
• Significant experience delivering road infrastructure programs and contracts.
• Strong program and project management capability.
• Excellent leadership, communication and relationship-building skills.
• A commitment to safety, governance and continuous improvement.
