Job summary

Barwon Health Emergency Department is offering a 6-month temporary part-time Discovery Program in Emergency Nursing for 2027. This role supports Registered Nurses to develop specialty skills with structured study days and supervised shifts across adults, paediatrics and fast-track.

You will provide consumer-centred, evidence-based care, undertake clinical assessments and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support safe patient journeys in the ED.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with a minimum of 12 months acute nursing experience at program start.
• Enthusiastic learner with a commitment to high-quality patient care.
• Motivated for professional development in emergency nursing.
• Team player with initiative and good communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality, consumer-centred care in the Emergency Department.
• Undertake clinical assessment, prioritisation and ongoing management of acute health needs.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to develop and evaluate care plans.
• Establish effective therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
• Participate in education and development opportunities throughout the program.
