Job summary

NSW Health Auburn Hospital is seeking a Clinical Nurse Unit Manager Level 1 for the Emergency Department. You will lead a busy ED team, drive patient flow, safety and quality outcomes while shaping service delivery through leadership and innovation.

In this role, you will oversee staffing, resource management and clinical governance, mentoring staff and partnering with senior clinicians to improve patient experiences and clinical performance.

Qualifications

• Must hold or be working towards a post-registration qualification in emergency/critical care or nursing management.
• Minimum of 5 years post-registration experience in Emergency Medicine.
• Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse, Division 1 with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
• Ability to lead, mentor and develop nursing staff.
• Strong interpersonal skills to work with healthcare teams, clients and carers.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and operational leadership for the Emergency Department, ensuring safe, efficient and patient-centred care.
• Oversee workforce planning, resource management and service performance while supporting evidence-based nursing practice.
• Drive quality improvement initiatives, performance targets, audits and operational excellence across the department.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary stakeholders to implement best practice and manage change.
• Monitor patient flow, safety and timely access to care in a high-demand environment.
