Network Energy Services in Melbourne is seeking a proactive graduate or early-career professional to join our Embedded Network technical operations team. You’ll gain hands‑on exposure to electricity metering, embedded networks, market systems and energy data, while developing practical technical, commercial and operational skills.
This role provides training, a Monday–Friday schedule and the chance to take ownership of tasks as you grow, with support from experienced colleagues and opportunities
Looking for a role where you can actually learn, grow and become the person everyone relies on?
If you’re organised, good with technology, enjoy solving problems and like the idea of working in an industry that keeps changing and evolving, this could be a great place to start your career.
Network Energy Services is an established Australian embedded network business with more than 20 years’ experience supporting communities across Australia.
We’re looking for a bright, proactive person to join our technical operations team.
Knowledge of the energy industry may be helpful but not essential because there will be training and support for the right person. What matters most is that you’re switched on, curious, comfortable learning new systems and genuinely want to develop your skills.
This isn’t a role where you’ll spend every day doing the same thing. You’ll get hands‑on exposure to the operational, administrative, financial and technical side of the Australian energy industry and learn how electricity metering, embedded networks, retailers, contractors and energy market systems all connect.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
Learn a specialised area of the energy industry from an experienced team
Build practical technical, commercial and operational skills
Work across a range of systems, software platforms and real‑world projects
Take ownership of your own tasks and see the outcome of the work you do
Develop skills in metering, energy data, market systems, tendering and pricing
Work in a supportive team where you can ask questions and keep learning
Grow into more complex technical and commercial responsibilities as your knowledge develops
Enjoy consistent Monday‑to‑Friday 9‑5pm business hours
There will be work in administration, finance and marketing areas
Your days will be varied and may include:
Assist with implementation of electricity metering installations and related works
Working with metering providers, energy retailers, engineers, principals and contractors
Tracking the progress of projects
Ordering meters and equipment and preparing purchase orders
Working across energy market platforms, ordering portals, billing software and energy management systems
Maintaining accurate customer, meter and site information
Investigating metering, billing and data issues
Analysing information and preparing reports
Assisting with electricity pricing comparisons, tendering and contract administration
Responding to customers and industry partners by phone and email
Supporting the wider technical team with projects and day‑to‑day operations
As your experience grows, there will also be opportunities to learn more specialised areas including MSATS, energy market processes, tendering, metering projects and technical coordination.
You might be a University graduate, or someone early in their career looking for an opportunity to get into a professional environment and learn an industry from the ground up.
You don’t need to tick every box. We’d love to hear from you if you:
Are naturally organised and good at keeping track of details
Enjoy figuring things out and solving problems
Are confident using computers and learning new software
Have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word
Communicate clearly and professionally
Are comfortable speaking with customers and suppliers
Can manage several things at once without losing track of the details
Take initiative rather than always waiting to be told what to do
Enjoy being part of a team but can also work independently
Are curious and genuinely interested in learning how things work
Experience in utilities, energy or embedded networks would be welcomed, but it is absolutely not essential.
Network Energy Services is an Australian embedded network manager and utility service provider with more than 20 years’ experience.

We’re an established business, but our industry is evolving quickly, which means there is always something new to learn.
If you’re looking for an brilliant professional opportunity where you can develop genuine industry knowledge, take on responsibility and build a valuable skill set, we’d love to hear from you.
