Job summary

Save the Children Australia in Mount Isa is seeking an Embedded Senior Practitioner to join our Domestic and Family Violence team. This full-time role focuses on crisis support, risk assessments, safety planning, and connecting survivor families with the services they need.

You’ll work closely with police to strengthen responses, build trust with victim-survivors, and apply trauma-informed, child-centered practice.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in domestic and family violence support, including case management, risk assessment, safety planning and advocacy.
• Strong knowledge of trauma-informed, child-centred and strengths-based practice, including impacts of violence on children and families.
• Ability to build trusted relationships and work collaboratively with police, government agencies, specialist services and community organisations.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis support, risk assessments and safety planning for people experiencing domestic and family violence.
• Build trust with victim-survivors and work alongside police to support safe, respectful responses.
• Connect victim-survivors and their children with specialist services, practical support and ongoing care.
• Strengthen partnerships between police and community services and support high-quality practice.
