Job summary

Performance Drivers Pty in Canberra is seeking an experienced Electronic Security Technician to install, program, commission and test CCTV, access control, intruder detection and integrated security platforms on a major construction project.

You'll work hands-on across installation, commissioning and handover, with fault finding, testing and documentation, collaborating with engineers and site trades to meet milestones on a high-profile government/major project.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years experience in electronic security installation, commissioning or servicing.
• Demonstrated experience with CCTV, access control, intruder alarm systems and associated equipment.
• Strong fault-finding, programming and system testing capabilities.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and installation practices.
• Current ACT Security Employee Licence (subclass 2E), or applicable recognised interstate authorisation.
• Current Australian driver's licence and Working at Heights ticket.
• Current NV1 clearance, or Australian citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain NV1 clearance.

Responsibilities

• Configure controllers, field devices, networked equipment and associated software.

• Provide technical assistance, servicing and post-installation support as required.
• Work closely with engineers, project managers and other site trades to achieve installation and commissioning milestones.

Our client is seeking an Electronic Security Technician to work on a major and high-profile construction project in Canberra.

This is a hands-on technical role involving the installation, programming, commissioning and testing of sophisticated electronic security systems, including CCTV, access control, intruder detection and integrated security platforms.

You'll work with experienced project teams, ensuring systems are correctly installed, configured, tested and operating to specification.

The Role

Working across complex construction installations, you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality electronic security systems from installation through to successful commissioning and handover.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Install, configure, program and commission CCTV, access control, intruder detection and integrated security systems.
• Undertake functional testing, fault finding and troubleshooting of electronic security equipment.

About You

You're an experienced electronic security technician with strong practical skills, sound technical judgement and the ability to work independently across complex installations.

Essential requirements:

• Minimum 2 years' experience in electronic security installation, commissioning or servicing.
• Demonstrated experience with CCTV, access control, intruder alarm systems and associated equipment.
• Strong fault-finding, programming and system testing capabilities.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and installation practices.
• Current ACT Security Employee Licence (subclass 2E), or applicable recognised interstate authorisation.
• Current Australian driver's licence and Working at Heights ticket.

Highly regarded:

• Experience with Inner Range Integriti, Tecom or comparable security platforms.
• Understanding of IP networking and integrated electronic security systems.
• ACMA cabling registration.
• Certificate III or IV in Electronics, Security Systems Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Experience working on major construction or government projects.
