Job summary

Airswift is recruiting for an Electrical Supervisor on a major wind farm project in Georgetown, South Australia. This on-site role oversees electrical construction, energisation and commissioning across HV/MV assets, substations and SCADA interfaces, ensuring safety, quality and schedule adherence.

The ideal candidate has extensive site-based electrical experience on large infrastructure projects, strong capability in contractor oversight and documenting progress against plans.

Qualifications

• Strong practical knowledge of HV/MV systems, underground reticulation and cabling, earthing, substations or switchyards, protection and control, SCADA, testing, commissioning, energisation and handover.
• Ability to inspect electrical works, witness tests, identify defects and maintain records.
• Experience reviewing drawings, specifications, ITPs, work packs, RFIs, non-conformances and as-built docs.

Job description

Job Title: Electrical Supervisor Duration: 2+ years (subject for extension) Schedule: 5:2, Monday to Friday, 10 hours per day Location: Georgetown, South Australia (On-site) This opportunity offers a key site-based position on a utility-scale wind farm project, supporting electrical construction, energisation and commissioning through to project completion. The role is focused on surveillance and assurance across HV/MV systems, substations, transmission infrastructure and SCADA interfaces, helping maintain quality, safety and programme compliance in a complex live construction environment. This position will suit candidates who enjoy a hands-on field presence and working across multiple electrical interfaces on major energy infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the site-based electrical representative, overseeing construction, installation, testing, energisation, and commissioning activities. Monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, contracts, management plans, inspection and test plans, relevant standards, and project requirements. Provide oversight of electrical infrastructure works, including wind turbine installations, HV/MV reticulation systems, underground cabling, substations, transmission connections, earthing systems, SCADA, and balance-of-plant electrical packages. Conduct inspections, witness testing and critical hold points, verify quality documentation, identify defects or non-conformances, and maintain accurate inspection and close-out records. Review technical documentation such as work packs, inspection and test plans, method statements, RFIs, technical queries, as-built records, commissioning documentation, and handover packages. Track contractor progress against schedule, identify risks and constraints, and contribute to site reporting, planning, and interface management activities. Coordinate electrical interfaces across generation assets, substations, transmission systems, commissioning teams, operations personnel, contractors, and other project stakeholders. Participate in daily site activities including pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, coordination sessions, inspections, walkdowns, and progress reviews. Support the implementation of safe work practices for HV activities, including permit-to-work, isolation, testing, access, and energisation processes. Escalate safety, quality, technical, schedule, and commercial concerns to project leadership, providing practical recommendations for resolution. Assist with progress verification, milestone assessments, installed quantity checks, defect management, and completion reporting. Support mechanical completion, energisation readiness, commissioning, performance testing, defect resolution, and project handover to operations and maintenance teams. Maintain a strong site presence and develop effective working relationships with project stakeholders, contractors, suppliers, and the broader construction team.

Required Education

• Electrical trade qualification, electrical engineering diploma/degree, or equivalent recognised technical qualification relevant to major electrical infrastructure

Required Experience

• Typically 8-10+ years of site-based electrical construction, supervision, inspection, commissioning or owner-side assurance experience on major energy or infrastructure projects
• Experience across high-voltage infrastructure such as wind farms, transmission lines, substations, power generation, battery energy storage systems, utilities, mining or related electrical construction environments
• Demonstrated experience reviewing drawings, specifications, inspection and test plans, work packs, test results, RFIs, technical queries, non-conformances, punch lists and as-built documentation
• Experience managing interfaces across multiple contractors and disciplines in a live construction environment, including SIMOPS and energised or partially energised systems
• Experience working in a client-side, Owner’s Engineer, superintendent, EPCM or independent assurance capacity, with the ability to monitor contractor compliance effectively

Required Skills

• Clear written reporting and record-keeping skills, with the ability to communicate issues objectively and elevate appropriately
• Professional, pragmatic and collaborative approach, with the confidence to challenge non-compliant work and uphold project standards
• Ability to work independently in a regional site environment, manage competing priorities and maintain a visible field presence

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience on utility-scale wind farm projects
• Current or previously held unrestricted electrical licence
• Local or regional availability within practical driving distance of site, particularly within South Australia
